My name is Jan-Bernd Frilling and I'm 27 years old. I'm studying International Business spanish/german in the 8th semester at the University of Applied Sciences at Fachhochschule Dortmund.
I studied one year abroad
at the ESIC Business & Marketing School in Madrid in Spain last year. I think that the "International Project Week" was an exciting experience and working together with other foreign students was definitely interesting and funny.

In the following I will give a quick overview of the content and my personal impressions.
At the first day, on Tuesday, we had a lecture from professor Prof. Dr. Ing. Sjir Nijssen. He pointed out the importance of “Object Role Modeling”. ORM is a method to analyse information in a simple way due its graphical framework. The schema design contains object, roles, constraints and other terms, which are basically easy to understand.

We had interesting workshops during the week. Our course coordinators were Rao Aamir Ali Khan, Suvas Lamichhan and Arsen Asvarov (EuroMPM).
We learned the issues of group dynamics first theoretically and then we construct a tower with paper sheets, where we had to consider some resource constraints. In this way learned the issues (Communication, Coordination, Pattern of Influence, Balance of task focus, Group Effectiveness etc.) through a practical teamwork exercise.
Rao Aamir Ali Khan presented the whole idea of “Project Management”. He started with various definitions like “A Project is the temporary endeavour undertaken to create a unique product, service or result” (PMBOK®) and conclude it finally with the “Product and Project Life Cycle” and the “Stakeholders analyse”. Suvas Lamcshhane presented the concept of “Risk Management in Projects”.

Afterwards, referring to the previous lecture, we had group works to combine the theory with practice. The groups, mixed by german and foreign students, had to present the results in class. The most challenging project was the planning of “The International Project Week 2010”. In my opinion, our group contributed a lot of valuable ideas and proposals.

I am very pleased that I have been a member of the International Project 2009!!!
